Veterans with back pain may get relief from hands-on therapy in new VA study

NCT ID NCT07161661

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) — a hands-on technique using stretching and gentle pressure — to usual VA care can improve outcomes for veterans and service members with chronic low back pain. About 48 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard VA care alone or standard care plus OMT. The goal is to measure pain levels and daily function to see if the added therapy makes a difference.
