Radioactive drug targets brain tumors in early trial

NCT ID NCT07223034

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase study tests a radioactive drug called 177Lu-PSMA-617 combined with standard chemotherapy (temozolomide) for people with aggressive IDH wild type gliomas. The goal is to see if the combination is safe and to get a first look at whether it helps control tumor growth. About 20 participants will receive up to 6 doses of the radioactive drug alongside their usual treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Lutetium-177-PSMA-617 (a radioactive drug) and temozolomide (a chemotherapy drug)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for aggressive brain tumors that currently have few effective therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 20 participants, so safety and dosing are still being figured out. The treatment may not slow tumor growth or could cause side effects from radiation.
