Can a Dietitian's help tame IBS better than a brochure?
NCT ID NCT07619573
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether personalized guidance from a dietitian on a low-FODMAP diet works better than just giving patients a standard brochure for managing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Fifty adults with IBS followed the diet for 8 weeks. Researchers measured symptom severity and inflammation markers in blood and stool to see which approach helped more.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-FODMAP diet
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that personalized dietitian guidance improves IBS symptoms more than a simple brochure.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Dietary changes can be hard to follow long-term.
