Summary
This study tested whether using a lower amount of anesthesia gas during laparoscopic weight-loss surgery reduces the amount of lung collapse (atelectasis) that can happen after surgery. Sixty adults having sleeve gastrectomy were randomly assigned to receive either low-flow or normal-flow anesthesia. Researchers measured lung collapse with ultrasound before and after surgery and also checked lung function two days later.
