Year-long safety check for kidney disease phosphorus drug

Summary

This study tested the long-term safety of MCI-196, a medication that helps control high phosphorus levels in people with advanced kidney disease who are on dialysis. The research followed 632 patients for up to one year to monitor how well they tolerated the medication and whether it continued to effectively lower phosphorus levels. Participants had already completed earlier studies with MCI-196 and continued taking flexible doses of the medication throughout this safety monitoring period.
