Brain scan study seeks early clues to Alzheimer's in healthy seniors

NCT ID NCT04403165

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at 30 healthy older adults (ages 55-75) to see if early brain changes in a region called the locus coeruleus can be detected before Alzheimer's symptoms appear. Researchers used brain scans, sleep tests, and spinal fluid analysis to measure how these changes might affect sleep and attention. The goal was to find new ways to understand and potentially prevent Alzheimer's disease.
