Blood particle test may predict liver failure and cancer risk
NCT ID NCT07185360
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at tiny particles in the blood, called extracellular vesicles, to see if they can predict serious liver problems like liver failure or liver cancer. Researchers will collect blood samples from 845 people, including healthy volunteers, diabetes patients, and those with liver disease, and track their health over time. The goal is to develop simple tests that help doctors decide who needs closer monitoring or early treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to simple blood tests that predict liver disease worsening or liver cancer, helping doctors monitor patients more effectively.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The tests may not prove accurate enough for routine use, and results may take years to confirm.
