NCT ID NCT06882460
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a low glycemic diet and lower-body electrical stimulation can prevent blood pressure from dropping too low after meals in people with chronic spinal cord injury. Thirteen participants will try both a low and high glycemic diet, with and without electrical stimulation, in a lab and at home. The goal is to find simple lifestyle solutions for postprandial hypotension.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low glycemic load diet and lower-body electrical stimulation
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer simple, drug-free ways to manage post-meal blood pressure drops in people with spinal cord injury.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 13 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The interventions are short-term and may not work for all.
