Simple lidocaine trick may stop Post-Surgery sickness in obese patients

Summary

This study tests whether giving lidocaine through a stomach tube can reduce nausea and vomiting after weight-loss surgery. About 100 obese adults having laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy will receive either lidocaine or a saltwater placebo right after surgery. Researchers will track how many patients feel sick in the recovery room and over the next 24 hours.
