First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving the medicine lidocaine during heart surgery can reduce lung damage in babies under 1 year old. Lung injury is a common problem after infant heart surgery, leading to longer time on breathing machines and in the ICU. The trial will compare lidocaine to a placebo in 320 infants to see if it helps protect their lungs.
