First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a combination of two drugs (lidocaine and dexmedetomidine) during weight-loss surgery can reduce pain, inflammation, and cell stress afterward. About 104 adults having laparoscopic bariatric surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the combo, one of the drugs alone, or a placebo. Researchers will measure pain levels 24 hours after surgery and check blood markers of inflammation and oxidative stress.
