New drug cocktail aims to slash Post-Surgery pain in obesity patients

Summary
This study tests whether giving a combination of two drugs (lidocaine and dexmedetomidine) during laparoscopic weight-loss surgery can reduce pain, inflammation, and cell stress afterward. About 104 adults undergoing bariatric surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the combo, one of the drugs alone, or a placebo. Researchers will measure pain levels 24 hours after surgery and check blood markers of inflammation and oxidative stress.
