First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a 3D-printed adapter that snaps onto an Xbox controller, allowing children aged 7 to 17 with a one-sided upper limb difference to use almost all buttons with one hand. Researchers want to see if it improves gaming performance and enjoyment. Twenty participants will try the adapter at home for a week and report their experiences.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
One-handed video game controller adapter (device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this adapter could make video games more accessible and enjoyable for children with one-sided upper limb differences.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to all children. The adapter may not improve performance or satisfaction for everyone.
