Can your smartwatch help track Parkinson's? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT06219629
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether mobile EEG headsets, smartwatches, and other wearable devices can reliably measure sleep problems and disease progression in people with Parkinson's disease. About 82 participants will use these devices at home and complete tasks through a mobile app. The goal is not to treat the disease, but to find better ways to monitor symptoms remotely.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that wearable devices and mobile apps are reliable tools for tracking Parkinson's disease symptoms and sleep problems at home.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study with only 82 participants. It does not test any treatment, so even positive results won't directly improve patient health.
