New combo therapy aims to ease stubborn back pain without drugs

NCT ID NCT07556926

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study will test whether adding high-intensity laser therapy to a hands-on technique called Mulligan mobilization can reduce pain and improve movement in people with chronic low back pain. Fifty adults aged 18-60 will be split into two groups: one gets the combo treatment, the other gets mobilization alone. The goal is to see if the combination works better for pain, disability, and range of motion.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

High-intensity laser therapy and Mulligan mobilization

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a more effective non-drug treatment for chronic low back pain.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study (50 people) that hasn't started yet, so results are uncertain. The combined approach may not prove better than mobilization alone.
