New device may help AFib patients skip blood thinners and lower stroke risk
NCT ID NCT05224375
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested a device called the Laminar Left Atrial Appendage Closure System in 29 adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AFib) who cannot take or want an alternative to blood thinners. The device is meant to close off a small pouch in the heart where clots often form, potentially reducing stroke risk without long-term medication. The main goals were to see if the closure worked and to track any serious side effects like stroke or major bleeding.
