Could a saffron-derived compound boost radiation for sarcoma?
NCT ID NCT06476704
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding a drug called liposomal transcrocetin (L-TC) to short-course radiation before surgery can kill more cancer cells in people with soft-tissue sarcoma. About 42 adults with localized or locally advanced sarcoma will be randomly assigned to receive radiation alone or radiation plus L-TC. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to a higher rate of near-complete tumor destruction.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
liposomal transcrocetin (L-TC)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could improve the chance of eliminating most cancer cells before surgery, potentially reducing recurrence risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-phase trial (42 people) testing a new combination. The drug may not improve outcomes and could cause side effects like infusion reactions or toxicity.
