New nerve block aims to ease knee replacement pain

NCT ID NCT07568106

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding a new type of nerve block (biceps femoris short head block) to a standard block can better control pain after total knee replacement. The goal is to reduce pain behind the knee and improve early recovery. About 132 adults having knee replacement will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard block alone or the standard block plus the new block. Researchers will measure pain levels, opioid use, and how well patients can move after surgery.
