New combo therapy aims to ease knee arthritis pain without surgery

NCT ID NCT05728827

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding blood flow restriction (a technique that gently limits blood flow to the legs) to walking on an anti-gravity treadmill can better reduce pain and improve function in people with knee osteoarthritis. About 70 adults aged 45-80 with knee arthritis will be split into two groups: one using the treadmill plus blood flow restriction, and the other using the treadmill alone. Both groups also do standard exercises. The goal is to see if the combo approach offers extra relief.
