Knee OA sufferers: which therapy works better for pain and mobility?

NCT ID NCT07315464

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will enroll 68 adults aged 45-70 with grade III knee osteoarthritis to compare two physical therapy techniques: Mulligan mobilization with eccentric exercises versus Kaltenborn sustained mobilization with eccentric exercises. Participants will attend 3 sessions per week for 3-4 weeks. Researchers will measure pain, functional disability, and range of motion at baseline, week 2, and week 4 to see which approach provides better relief.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Physical therapy techniques (Mulligan mobilization with eccentric exercises vs Kaltenborn sustained mobilization with eccentric exercises)
What this could lead to
If one technique proves better, it could point toward a more effective physical therapy approach for easing knee pain and improving daily function in people with knee osteoarthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 68 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two existing therapies, so no breakthrough cure is expected.
