Zapping cancer during surgery: new trial for rectal tumors
NCT ID NCT05877352
First seen May 15, 2026 ยท Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving a single dose of radiation directly to the tumor during surgery is possible and safe for people with advanced or recurrent rectal cancer. About 31 adults will be randomly assigned to receive standard surgery, surgery plus a standard radiation dose, or surgery plus a higher radiation dose. The goal is to see if this approach can help control the cancer, though ongoing monitoring and treatment may still be needed.
