First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a two-week intensive summer treatment program for 70 adolescents aged 12-18 with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in Iceland. The program uses daily cognitive-behavioral therapy with exposure and response prevention in a group setting. Researchers will measure changes in OCD symptoms, executive function, anxiety, and daily functioning to see if this short, focused approach helps teens manage their condition.

What this could lead to
If successful, this program could offer an effective, time-efficient treatment option for teens with OCD, reducing symptoms and improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with no control group, so results may not be generalizable. The intensive format may not suit all teens, and long-term effects are unknown.
