Ancient wisdom meets modern science: new trial aims to Jump-Start periods

NCT ID NCT07580950

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026

Summary

This study tests a two-step treatment that uses Western medicine to quickly restart menstruation and Chinese medicine to support long-term balance in women with functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (missed periods due to stress, low weight, or over-exercise). Researchers will track 210 participants to see if the approach safely restores regular cycles and improves hormone levels and quality of life. The goal is to manage the condition, not cure it, as ongoing care may be needed.
