First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding peer support and healthy food vouchers to a standard diabetes prevention program helps low-income adults with prediabetes stick with the program and lower their risk of developing diabetes. About 142 participants will be split into two groups: one gets the standard program, the other gets the program plus a buddy and vouchers. The main goal is to see if the extra support increases attendance at weekly sessions.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Diabetes Prevention Program plus peer support and healthy food vouchers
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show a practical way to help more people at risk for diabetes make lasting healthy changes and avoid getting the disease.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 142 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The extra support might not make a big difference in attendance or weight loss.
