VA tackles wasteful prostate cancer scans with doctor coaching
NCT ID NCT03445559
Summary
This study is testing a training and feedback program for VA doctors to help them follow national guidelines for ordering imaging scans (like bone scans) for prostate cancer. The goal is to reduce unnecessary scans for low-risk patients while ensuring appropriate scans for high-risk patients. Researchers are measuring scan rates before and after the program at 10 VA sites to see if it changes doctor behavior and is cost-effective.
