New heart pump trial offers hope for severe heart failure patients

Summary

This early study tests a temporary heart pump called Impella BTR in 10 adults with severe heart failure. The pump is placed inside the body to help the heart pump blood for up to 28 days. The goal is to see if the device is safe and can support patients until they recover or receive another treatment.
