Immune reset may unlock kidney transplants for 'Incompatible' patients

NCT ID NCT07607197

First seen May 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with end-stage kidney disease who have very high levels of antibodies, making it nearly impossible to find a compatible donor kidney. The treatment uses a strong medication regimen to wipe out the patient's existing immune cells, then rebuilds the immune system using their own stem cells. The goal is to lower those harmful antibodies enough to allow a successful kidney transplant from a deceased donor.
