Summary

This study is testing whether an implantable defibrillator (ICD) helps people with a certain type of heart failure (non-ischemic cardiomyopathy) live longer. About 2,500 participants will be randomly assigned to receive an ICD or not, and their survival will be tracked for up to 10 years. The goal is to see if the device, which shocks the heart back into rhythm if it becomes dangerous, actually reduces deaths in this group.
