One-Shot hybrid procedure shows promise for stubborn atrial fibrillation

NCT ID NCT02630914

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested a single procedure that combines minimally invasive surgery and catheter techniques to treat atrial fibrillation (AF) in 12 patients with long-lasting, hard-to-control AF. The goal was to see if the hybrid approach could safely and completely isolate the areas of the heart causing the irregular rhythm. Early results suggest the combined method may lead to fewer AF episodes and hospital visits, but more research is needed.
