New software aims to predict and prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during operations
NCT ID NCT07301307
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special software (HPI and AFM) can help anesthesiologists keep blood pressure stable during surgery. About 100 adults having general anesthesia will be randomly assigned to either standard care or care guided by the software. The goal is to see if the software reduces how often and how long blood pressure drops too low.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Acumen IQ sensor with Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) and Assisted Fluid Management (AFM) software
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give anesthesiologists a better tool to prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during surgery, potentially reducing complications.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (100 participants) testing a device, not a drug. The software may not improve outcomes significantly over standard care, and results may not apply to all patients.
