New group program aims to boost quality of life for stem cell transplant survivors
NCT ID NCT06160986
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a group-based behavioral program called Horizons can improve quality of life and coping skills in adults with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), a common complication after stem cell transplant. The program involves 8 weekly video sessions with a clinician and behavioral health specialist. The main goal is to see if the program is feasible—meaning enough people enroll, attend, and complete it—not yet to prove it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Horizons Group Intervention (behavioral program)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a practical, group-based program to help people with chronic graft-versus-host disease better manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program is behavioral, not a medical treatment, so it won't cure the disease or replace standard care.
