New hope: testing powerful cancer drugs for people with HIV
NCT ID NCT02408861
Summary
This early-stage study tested the safety and best dose of two immunotherapy drugs, nivolumab and ipilimumab, for people living with HIV who also have advanced cancers like Hodgkin lymphoma, Kaposi sarcoma, or lung cancer. The goal was to see if these drugs, which help the immune system fight cancer, are safe and effective for this specific group of patients. The study also looked at how the treatment affected the participants' HIV infection and immune system.
