First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a high dose of erythropoietin, a hormone that boosts red blood cell production, can improve survival and prevent long-term brain damage in full-term newborns who suffered oxygen deprivation at birth. All 120 babies also received standard cooling therapy. The goal was to see if the drug reduces death and disabilities like motor, vision, or hearing problems.
