NCT ID NCT05716022

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a hiatal hernia (where the stomach pushes into the chest) might cause unnoticed lung injury that could lead to scarring. Researchers measured stomach enzymes and other markers in the lung fluid of 14 adults, comparing those with a hiatal hernia to those without. The goal was to find early signs of lung damage that could be treated before it becomes serious.
