Can a nasal tube boost exercise in heart failure? new trial investigates
NCT ID NCT07613762
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a high-flow nasal cannula (a device that delivers warm, moist air through the nose) can help people with heart failure exercise longer during cardiac rehab. Twenty-eight adults will do two treadmill tests—one with the device and one without—to compare endurance and perceived effort. The goal is to see if this simple tool can make exercise easier and more effective for heart failure patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that using a simple breathing device during exercise helps heart failure patients tolerate activity better, potentially improving rehab outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 28 participants. The device is used only during the test, so any benefit may be temporary and not translate to daily life.
