NCT ID NCT00143923
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 2,000 adults aged 45-75 in Pennsylvania to better understand why some groups have higher heart disease risk. About 800 participants at higher risk will receive either usual care or a personalized program with nutrition, exercise, and stress management advice. The goal is to see if such lifestyle support can reduce heart attacks and strokes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
lifestyle counseling (nutrition, exercise, stress management)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that personalized lifestyle programs effectively lower heart disease risk in high-risk populations.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with a small randomized part, so results may not apply broadly. Lifestyle changes are hard to maintain long-term.
