Tiny sensor in lung artery could keep heart failure patients out of hospital
NCT ID NCT04398654
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a small sensor placed in the lung artery can help doctors better manage heart failure. About 550 people with advanced heart failure will either get standard care or have the sensor implanted. The sensor sends daily pressure readings to the care team, allowing them to adjust medications early to prevent hospital stays. The goal is to reduce deaths and unplanned hospital visits, and improve quality of life.
