First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated Apr 18, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study is following older adults for six years to see if using hearing aids can slow down memory loss and thinking problems, and possibly reduce the risk of dementia. It continues a previous 3-year trial where half the participants received hearing aids and the other half received general health education. Now, researchers are tracking everyone for another three years to understand the long-term effects of treating hearing loss on brain health.
