Wisdom tooth healing boosted by blood gels and laser?
NCT ID NCT07324213
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether placing a gel made from a patient's own blood into the socket after wisdom tooth removal, along with low-level laser therapy, can improve healing. 122 adults had their impacted wisdom teeth removed and were assigned to different combinations of these treatments. Researchers measured pain, swelling, mouth opening, and bone regrowth over several months to see which approach worked best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Autologous platelet concentrates (Advanced Platelet-Rich Fibrin and Concentrated Growth Factors) and low-level laser therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a standard approach to reduce pain and speed bone healing after wisdom tooth extraction.
What could go wrong
This is a completed study with known safe procedures, but the results may not apply to all patients or tooth types. The improvements may be small and not change current practice.
