First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether hamstring exercises and kinesiotaping can reduce low back pain in elite male rowers aged 14–18. Sixty participants received one of three treatments four times a week for 12 weeks. Researchers measured muscle stiffness, pain levels, and athletic performance to see which approach works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Ballistic stretching, extender exercises, and kinesiotaping
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to reduce low back pain and improve performance in young rowers.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 60 male adolescents, so results may not apply to other groups. The interventions are low-risk but effects may be modest.
