Could a daily cup of green tea extract ease cancer nerve pain?
NCT ID NCT07682324
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether taking a daily capsule of decaffeinated green tea extract can reduce nerve pain in people who have had cancer treatment. The trial enrolls 20 adults with stable pain who are not currently undergoing cancer therapy. Participants receive either the green tea extract or a placebo (rice flour) for a set period, and researchers track changes in pain scores and blood markers.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
decaffeinated green tea extract (Sunphenon 90D)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural, low-cost option to help manage nerve pain in cancer survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early-phase trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The extract may cause side effects or prove no better than placebo.
