Graphene electrode tested in brain tumor surgery for first time

NCT ID NCT06368310

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This early study tests a new graphene-based electrode for brain mapping during surgery to remove brain tumors. Ten adults with glioma will have the device used alongside standard monitoring to check its safety and how well it records brain signals. Some participants who are awake during surgery may do simple tasks like naming objects to help evaluate the device. The goal is to see if this technology can improve brain mapping without causing harm.
