Low-gluten diet in toddlers may slash celiac risk, study suggests

NCT ID NCT04593888

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether eating very little gluten (less than 3 grams per day) during the first three years of life can lower the chance of developing celiac disease in children who are genetically at risk. Over 1,100 children with specific genes are being followed until age 7. The goal is to see if this diet reduces the appearance of celiac-related antibodies and full-blown celiac disease.
