NCT ID NCT07188142
First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether applying Gluma desensitizer before a filling can reduce tooth sensitivity afterward. Sixty adults with cavities in their back teeth will be randomly assigned to get either the desensitizer plus a standard filling or just the standard filling. Their pain response to an air puff will be measured right after the procedure and again at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Gluma Desensitizer (glutaraldehyde/HEMA solution)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give dentists a simple way to reduce tooth pain after fillings, making the procedure more comfortable for patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is for temporary sensitivity, not a cure for tooth decay.
