First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people who take GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic or Wegovy) should continue them after bariatric surgery. Researchers want to see if staying on the drug leads to more weight loss, better blood sugar control, and changes in gut health. About 150 adults with obesity and related conditions will be randomly assigned to either keep or stop their GLP-1 meds after surgery, and their progress will be tracked for 6 months.
