DNA test may help doctors personalize heart failure treatment
NCT ID NCT07054489
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study explores whether a person's genetic makeup can guide how doctors prescribe beta-blockers for heart failure with mildly reduced pumping ability. Ten participants will receive beta-blocker therapy guided by their polygenic score, and researchers will measure changes in heart function using MRI. The goal is to see if genetics can make treatment more effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
beta blocker
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that genetic testing helps doctors choose the right dose of beta-blocker for heart failure patients, leading to more personalized treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 10 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is testing a method, not a new drug, so it won't directly improve health.
