Could flickering lights and sounds ease Parkinson's symptoms?

NCT ID NCT05268887

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a device that uses light, sound, and gentle touch to stimulate brain waves at a specific frequency (gamma). Researchers want to see if it is safe and can change brain activity in people with mild Parkinson's disease. 40 participants will use the device for 30-60 minutes, and their brain waves will be measured with EEG.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

GENUS device (gamma frequency light, sound, and tactile stimulation)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive, drug-free way to ease movement symptoms in early Parkinson's disease.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study focused on safety and feasibility, not on proving the treatment works. The effects may be small or not last, and not everyone may respond.
