Freeze vs. botox: new nerve treatment battles debilitating shoulder pain

NCT ID NCT06782464

Summary

This study is testing if a procedure that freezes specific nerves in the shoulder works as well as standard Botox injections for reducing pain and improving movement. It involves 50 adults with shoulder pain and stiffness (spasticity) caused by conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, or brain injury. One group gets the freezing treatment, the other gets Botox, and both follow a 24-week rehab program to see which provides longer-lasting relief.
