First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests a non-invasive technique called pulsed low-intensity focused ultrasound (PLIFU) to reduce seizure activity in people with a severe, ongoing seizure condition called status epilepticus that hasn't improved with standard medications. Ten participants in the ICU will receive a 10-minute ultrasound session targeting brain areas involved in seizures. The goal is to see if this approach can safely and quickly calm abnormal brain activity.
