Foam roller or nerve glides: which eases tight hamstrings better?
NCT ID NCT07627581
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tests two simple, at-home techniques—foam rolling and nerve sliding—to see which better improves hamstring flexibility in 30 adults with tight hamstrings and a history of low back pain. Participants will try both methods on different days, with a month break in between. The goal is to find an easy way to ease discomfort and improve movement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Self-myofascial release using a foam roller and self-administered neurodynamic sliding technique
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could point toward simple, at-home exercises to improve hamstring flexibility and reduce low back pain.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study (30 people) with no blinding, so results may not be reliable or generalizable. The interventions are short-term (3 days), so any benefits might be temporary.
